Mechanic Deck - Offshore - Technical crew
The Technical - Deck Engineers Department onboard Allseas’ vessels is responsible for the maintenance and operation of all deck machinery and equipment. This team of specialised engineers ensures the functionality and reliability of cranes, winches, hydraulic systems, and other essential deck machinery. They perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs to minimise downtime and ensure safe operations.
Your role
As Mechanic Deck, you are essential to the safe and efficient operation of our vessels’ deck machinery and mission equipment. You’ll work on offshore projects worldwide, reporting to the Shift Leader Deck and First Engineer Deck, and collaborating with a skilled technical team.
Your responsibilities include:
Executing maintenance and repair tasks on deck and mission equipment under supervision.
Performing independent watchkeeping duties and maintenance jobs as instructed.
Supporting safe operations during pipelay and heavy lift projects.
Directing Fourth Engineer, Motormen, and Wipers when assigned.
Carrying out tasks efficiently and in accordance with Allseas Integrated Management System (AIMS) standards.
Acting as deputy for the Shift Leader Deck when required by the Chief Engineer.
Timely administration, including planned maintenance and statutory logbooks.
Ensuring department-specific Permit to Work, Work Risk Assessment, and safety procedures are used, followed, and updated under supervision.
Keeping all personal documentation, such as passport, seaman's book, medical certificate, CoC, and safety (STCW) training certificates, up-to-date and valid.
Performing duties as indicated on the station bill and fulfilling ship security duties.
Performing accurate duty rounds and equipment inspections as instructed.
Actively participating in handovers as per standing orders.
Performing fault-finding, executing, and recording corrective actions.
When working on pipelay vessels: maintain production during pipelay operations and prevent breakdowns.
When working on construction vessels: maintain operability of heavy lift systems and cranes and prevent breakdowns and serve as Overall Safety System operator during TLS operations.
You will also have the authority to stop the job if safety or compliance is at risk, in line with the Allseas Integrated Management System.

General technical education and compliance with all STCW requirements.
A2 level English proficiency (spoken and written).
Highly skilled in tooling and tinkering with mechanical installations.
Knowledge of pipelay processes, cranes, and hydraulics.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and documentation.
Good knowledge of MS Office applications.
Fulfilment of all training and qualification requirements in accordance with company standards.
